Ephesians 5:14 "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light". For too long the church of Jesus Christ has taken the back seat in every area. We have chosen to walk on bare foot while servants ride on horses. But I come your way today to challenge you to arise.
The time for mediocrity is gone; the time to sit back idly and sing the song “whatever will be will be” has passed. It is time to arise. The very popular and powerful scripture in Isaiah 60:1-2 “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” has been reduced to an ordinary cliché even though we see verse 2 in display right before our very eyes. Beloved, the time has come for it to be a reality. It is a prophetic demand on the church and we cannot afford to fail.
Do you know that the world will remain in perpetual darkness if we, the believers, fail to shine? Can you imagine a dark room and the only bulb in it, which has the capacity to expel darkness, refuses to come on, not because there is no supply of electricity but because it is expecting other bulbs to pop up in the room and shine? Can you imagine it? If you can’t why are you then, the light, refusing to shine in your world?
The time has come for us to awake from our sleep and slumber and take our rightful position as the change agents: the authorized agents of heaven on earth. It is an indictment against the church that whenever people want the best of hands for any assignment, they look to the world instead of the church. We are the custodians of the power and grace of God and so we must be the role model to the world. We have at our disposal the wisdom of God and we must not frustrate the grace of God. Can you imagine Jesus being on earth today as a doctor and people want to see the best consultant; who do you think it will be? Jesus of course, the same applies to every other profession: drivers, accountants, financial management experts, engineers etc. If Jesus were to be in any of the positions, He will be the best. He will be the reference point. If that is true, then what makes you think He desires you to be any less?
If we the carriers of His grace and power refuse to take our position, and shine as the light in our world, bringing to bare the Kingdom of God, the devil and his cohorts will keep us in bondage and the Kingdom of God will not advance. As the world gets darker, it is time for us, the light to shine the brightest. Of course, this will not fall on us as a bag of cherries; it will place a heavy demand on us which we must be ready to pay.
As we prepare for the forthcoming “Friends in da house” which focuses on the Finance sector, go out of your way, invite your friends. Everyone here definitely knows someone in that sector, if you no other person, what about your banker? Invite them, let us take the light of the word to our world. Of course, the Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture and also the final of the football competition are coming soon, the same with the Men’s Summit and the mother of them all the Kingdom Life World Conference. Don’t just come for these programs invite someone and you will be glad you did.
As you go into this week, my prayer goes with you; walk shoulder high knowing that you cannot fail for the Greater One dwells in you and has given you the victory.
I bless you in today
Maranatha!
