One of the lies of the devil plaguing believers in our world today is worry. Worry is nothing but robbing yourself of the joy of today in anticipation of a challenge that may never occur. You worry that a loved one might die, why won’t you believe that he might live? You worry that your bills might not be paid, why won’t you walk in faith that God meets all your needs? Have you ever considered the time, energy and joy you lose on things that may never occur? Beloved, until you tap into the power that releases your tomorrow, you will ever live in depression and frustration.
Many today are not happy because they are consumed with comparing themselves with other people and the Bible clearly states in 2 Cor. 10:12 that he who does such comparison is not wise. Let us look at it in the message translation: 2 Corinthians 10:12 (MSG) “We're not, understand, putting ourselves in a league with those who boast that they're our superiors. We wouldn't dare do that. But in all this comparing and grading and competing, they quite miss the point.”
When you involve yourself in comparing, grading and competing, beloved, you miss the point. God has a specific assignment for you. He made you uniquely different for a purpose. You are in a race all by yourself and no matter the accolades being showered on you, or how seemingly irrelevant your assignment may be, there is only one person who rewards and that is God. He commissioned you, He also will reward you. Men may give awards, but God gives rewards.
I therefore challenge you to rejoice in your today so that you can lay hold on your tomorrow. God laid a very good example of this in the story of creation. Notice that after every creation, He stops, takes a look at what He has done and celebrates it; He rejoices and calls it good. The same way, you should follow God’s way of doing things and learn to appreciate what you have accomplished so far. Why are you hung up on what you have not accomplished yet? What of the numerous things you have accomplished? Stop and celebrate yourself. Rejoice in your today because therein lies the strength for tomorrow. In rejoicing in your accomplishment today, what you are saying in effect is that the same God that saw you through today is able and will surely see you through tomorrow. That builds strength and that is faith; it is faith in the ability of the unfailing God. Beloved, God that has seen you through thus far is able to complete the rest.
Never let the pressures of tomorrow stop you from thanking God for today because in thanking God for today lies the power to conquer your tomorrow. Beloved, your past is history; your future is a mystery and your present is the gift of God; live it with joy.
Next week, the mother of all conferences, the Kingdom Life World Conference 2008, kicks off. I want to challenge everyone to be there. Cancel all other appointments and make it a date with destiny. There is a specific word for you and you cannot afford to miss it. I look forward to seeing you there.
